It's a country that has probably recently experienced war you know and it's very much at
00:17
peace now. Some of the other popular destinations include Colombia and Senegal. Travel consultant
00:24
David Smith said most of his clients are aged between 50 to 70. They're either retired or
00:32
working on a consultancy basis you know they're well educated, extremely well educated people.
00:38
They know why they're going to these countries it's not like oh that country's got a cool name
00:42
let's go there. I always tend to say there's travelers and the tourists and these people
00:47
are definitely travelers. They've spent most of their life traveling to these obscure destinations.
00:52
The number of Aussies traveling to Iraq has increased by 50 percent in the last five years
00:59
despite COVID-19 lockdowns. It's not for your first time traveler. Iraq is a very raw destination
01:06
it's it's you know for your well-traveled I would say somebody who's a history lover,
01:11
a lover of the Middle East in general. Mr Smith advises travelers to do their research first,
01:17
book through a reputable company and register their travel with their consult.
