00:05side. HuffPost says food has become a go-to reward because it is relatively inexpensive
00:12and can be fun. Is it really productive? Amy Grimonti, a social worker specializing in
00:19disordered eating, says it's all about finding balance. Eating disorder therapist Cherie
00:25Miller explains, using food as a reward is rooted in restriction. You're rewarding yourself with
00:32something you wouldn't normally allow yourself to have. You run the risk of categorizing foods
00:37as good or bad when in reality all foods can have a place in a healthy diet. Experts seem to advocate
00:44for incentivized motivation, just not necessarily being food related. Ginsburg recommends choosing
00:51something related to self-care, perhaps a nice bath or listening to a favorite podcast.
