00:00The year it started, you were already there.

00:03Yes.

00:04I was born the year it started, I'm just kidding.

00:07But yep, yep, definitely.

00:09And the year before that, I joined the previous morning show, which was Mornings at GMA.

00:13So a few of us, we crossed over to when they reformatted it to Unang Hirit, because back

00:20in the day, the morning shows were actually more business-oriented.

00:23The morning show was in English before.

00:26So it was for people who were on their way to work, there were stock markets and such.

00:32Absolutely.

00:33Up to now, I don't know what the stock market is about, maybe that's why I went to this

00:39version of the morning show.

00:41But yeah, that's how it was.

00:43When they started out, it was Tito Mon Esberto, he's the true godfather of morning TV, I think.

00:48And he would do the show in one of the buildings in Makati, and it'll just be himself, and

00:54maybe he has a co-host.

00:56And then that's it.

00:57They would talk about mostly business, as it's an English language.

01:00And then they did Mornings at GMA, and it became a bit, it's still in English.

01:05Then when they became Taglish, the English people tapped out, because they couldn't do it anymore.

01:12We needed to speak Tagalog here.

01:16It's a good thing you're very versatile, right?

01:18It's possible, either way.

01:20Actually, Paolo Bejones came to me, because he was the one who was in the morning show,

01:25and he was also leaving to do a different show.

01:27So he was looking for a guy and a girl who can speak Tagalog, and he got Ryan Agoncillo

01:33to replace Paolo, and then got me to replace Cher Calvin.

01:38Because Cher is really English, she's a Filipino.

01:41So she couldn't do the newscast in Tagalog, so they got me.

01:47Some Mornings at GMA, you had a lifestyle segment, or were you doing the news?

01:53Yes, I was doing the news, as in the main thing.

01:57Oh my gosh, we've known each other for a long time.

01:59Now that I think about it, what was Suzy doing in the mornings?

02:02What was your segment?

02:03Wow, you were doing the news!

02:05As in, because Cher Calvin, that was her assignment.

02:10She was doing the main news, Tito Juan was doing the business news,

02:13Tisha Silang was doing the international news, and Paolo was doing the sports news, etc.

02:19But also, they would do features and interviews as well.

02:22So it was a four-man show where they would do everything.

02:24They had assignments for both news and features.

02:27So your assignment was hard news?

02:30Yes!

02:31Wow!

02:32Until somebody figured out that this wasn't the girl for this job.

02:40Why not?

02:41It's just that you had other interests and other likes.

02:45I think my personality is a little more casual, and also because I freaked out

02:49in a news report.

02:50I think it was, I could be mistaken, I think it was Matthew Fahatin.

02:54He had a video of a raid that happened the night before, or during the evening.

03:02And so he was annotating it, so we could only see the video of this guy

03:06who was being followed by the police.

03:08He entered a room, a door, and the camera didn't follow him.

03:13The camera stayed outside.

03:15And then, whoever the reporter was annotating this,

03:18there was a gunshot.

03:19This is live?

03:20Yes.

03:21Is this live?

03:22Live annotation.

03:23So I was really freaked out because of that scene.

03:26And I was like,

03:27Oh, what's that?

03:28How did he do that?

03:30I was panicking.

03:31And Tito Mon was behind the camera, and he was going,

03:34Relax.

03:35He was going like that because I was really rattled.

03:39So they didn't take me out of the job because of that.

03:42It was just because we reformatted the first two episodes.

03:46The reformat was just right.

03:50So when the first episode came out, were you still doing hard news or lifestyle?

03:55No more.

03:56No more.

03:57It was lifestyle.

03:58We got Martin Andanar.

04:00He was our newscaster before.

04:02He was the one who did the hard news for us.

04:04Tito Mon also joined us for just a couple of months.

04:08And then it was harder for him because the show became earlier.

04:11An hour earlier.

04:12So Tito Mon had a corporate job.

04:15So he couldn't really work until the next day.

04:19It was a whole day of business.

04:20And then Tisha, it was hard for her because it's purely Tagalog.

04:24Oh, okay.

04:25And then Arnold became the main guy.

04:29And then Mickey Furyals.

04:31Miriam Kiambao was also on the show.

04:33So you were the OG.

04:35The OG morning girl, morning show host, right?

04:38That's right.
