00:26The seventh defence witness said Susaymanickam was brought to the Emergency Department of
00:32the hospital on May 19, 2018 and was unconscious.
00:38He said the victim was not breathing and had no pulse.
00:41Initial cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started by the on-duty paramedics and early
00:47resuscitation treatment was provided by the attending medical officers.
00:50Dr Nick Mohamed Noor was testifying during the hearing of a suit filed by Susaymanickam's
00:56father, S. Joseph, against a few RMN officers, the RMN chief, the Malaysian Armed Forces
01:02Council, the Minister of Defence and the Malaysian as among the 15 defendants.
01:08When questioned by lawyer Latifa Koya, representing the family, the witness said heat stroke can
01:13occur when an individual performs exercises such as running, but it depends on the fitness
01:20level of the individual concerned.
01:23In the lawsuit filed in May 19, 2021, the victim's family is alleging negligence on
01:29the part of the defendants for failing to provide emergency treatment when the victim
01:34collapsed on the day of the incident and in monitoring his well-being and health during
01:39training sessions.
01:40The trial continues on September 9.
