00:0046.4% of accidents reported under Perkeso last year, Act 4, Akhtar 4 in 2023, involved commuting accidents.
00:12About more than 38,000 cases, and out of these cases, 750 were fatal accidents.
00:21This year alone, until June, out of the 41,278 accidents reported to Perkeso, 47.9% were related to commuting.
00:33You are talking about more than 19,000 cases, and out of these, 352 cases involved death.
00:42Statistics show that more than about half of the accident-related claims from Perkeso, about 50%, are commuting accidents.
00:52But the death of one person is a 100% loss, 100% tragedy to him and his family.
01:02And of course, beyond the tragic loss of life, there is a huge economic cost involved.
01:08We are talking about last year, Perkeso paid out about 1.4 billion ringgit under the Employment Injury Scheme for work-related incidences.
01:19From January to June this year, total compensation disbursed for the same work-related incidences is almost about 718 million ringgit.
01:34So in the spirit of Madani, and as a socially concerned organisation, Perkeso is committed, Pesuma is committed, to work with our partners to ensure that our workers are safe.
01:46We are committed to reaching out to about 10 million workers under Perkeso, with campaign and campaign messages on safety and health, including road safety.
01:57Last year, we organised more than 500 road safety programmes, reaching out to more than 2,000 employers and 20,000 employees.
02:07And I am proud to inform you that we will continue this effort this year, in fact, with newer programmes.
