00:27In this recurring SNL sketch, Sandler played a boy looking for work in the neighborhood.

00:37Chris Farley portrayed Mr. O'Malley, an animated voucher for the boy's services.

00:43Come on, let the boy feed your dog.

00:48Although rare for Farley to ever break character, Sandler came just about as close as you can.

00:55Staring into the soul of the camera, he implored his neighbors to let him teach their dog a trick.

01:01Farley seems to go slightly off script with his response, while also seemingly giggling in the process.

01:08I don't know.

01:11This is a notable moment because usually it was the other way around,

01:16with Sandler being the one struggling to contain himself due to Farley.

01:25Number 9. Cajun Man on the Presidential Election

01:30Born and raised in Louisiana, this SNL character portrayed by Sandler speaks in an exaggerated Cajun accent.

01:39Sandler utilizes an impressive amount of dedication to saying words that end in shong.

01:45In this appearance, Kevin Nealon was ready to interview the Cajun Man about the upcoming presidential election.

01:51Well, Cajun Man, do you think you could do better than these guys?

01:54Without question.

01:57Really?

01:58Before the interview really kicked into gear, you can already tell Nealon was wrestling his face to keep it straight and not burst out laughing.

02:07All it took was one singular word from Sandler.

02:12That's not easy to do, but for him, perhaps it is.

02:17Number 8. Weekend Update, Frank Dippie and Hank Doodle

02:22Ordinary Americans isn't the best term to characterize Adam Sandler and Chris Farley.

02:28It's even less fitting for their SNL characters, Frank Dippie and Hank Doodle.

02:32Hey, how are you, fellas?

02:34Doing fine, Norman.

02:36Let's get to it, Norman.

02:38Alright, fellas.

02:39So how can you blame Norm Macdonald for chuckling as he looked in their direction while calling them ordinary Americans?

02:46He even had to pause briefly before continuing the rest of his line.

02:50Again, understandable.

02:52This was before the start of a hysterical point-counterpoint discussion between Frank and Hank.

02:57Alright, 10 seconds, got a lot to say.

03:02This is going back to the...

03:04It's as simple as...

03:06Clearly Macdonald knew what he was getting into.

03:09While this was likely both Farley and Sandler making Macdonald giggle,

03:13it shows the power of their comedic reputations.

03:16Frank Dippie and Hank Doodle, everyone.

03:22Number 7. Gap Girls at the Food Courts

03:26Put Chris Farley, David Spade, and Adam Sandler in a room together, what do you get?

03:31Comedy gold.

03:33Do you even know what those words mean?

03:35No.

03:38In the recurring sketch called Gap Girls,

03:40the three men play female work buddies who gossip and hang out together at the mall.

03:45At one moment in the food court,

03:47Spade's character tried to justify her seemingly toxic boyfriend's behavior.

03:52Sandler's character responded as any good friend would.

03:56Sandler had difficulty keeping a straight face as he delivered this line.

04:00Christy, listen to yourself.

04:03I hate to see this happen to you.

04:07You're my best friend.

04:13Once he got all the words out though,

04:15it was Spade and Farley who broke character with their smirks.

04:18Really, Christy.

04:20Give him the keys to the street and do it tonight.

04:26Number 6. Weekend Update, Adam Sandler on Thanksgiving

04:31In this Weekend Update segment,

04:33Sandler honored Thanksgiving with a humorous, rhythmic song

04:36with lyrics that consisted of turkey admiration and arbitrary factoids.

04:42Love to eat the turkey at the table.

04:45I once saw a movie with Betty Grable.

04:48When he eventually turned to Kevin Nealon, suggesting he join in the song,

04:52you could see that Nealon had been cracking up.

04:55At first, the host was reluctant,

04:57but Sandler then gave him that extra little push to sing along.

05:01Oh, it'll be fun.

05:05Okay.

05:06This was a funny moment where Nealon broke character, so to speak,

05:10because you don't expect the Weekend Update host to join in on the act,

05:15especially one like this.

05:17It's a weirdly catchy song though.

05:20Oh, I love turkey on Thanksgiving.

05:28Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

05:32Number 5. Il Cantore Restaurant

05:36The waiters at this Italian restaurant got very flirty and handsy with Kirstie Alley.

05:41It's so nice of you to spend your birthday with us.

05:45Oh, it isn't my birthday.

05:47When it was time for Sandler to bring her and her husband glasses of water,

05:51he didn't disappoint.

05:53In nothing but black underwear, Sandler grabbed Alley's dress

05:56and rubbed his head in her chest.

05:58At this point, she visibly broke due to the absurdity of it all.

06:02Hey, hey, all right, that's it. We are out of here.

06:06What makes this moment even funnier is the fact that Alley

06:10previously tried to explain to her husband

06:12that it was Italian custom for them to behave so affectionately.

06:16But the lengths to which the waiters go,

06:19particularly Sandler toward the end,

06:21understandably made it hard to not burst into laughter.

06:29Number 4. Weekend Updates

06:32Gil Graham's Summer Concert Review

06:35The person to go to for a hilarious summer concert review is Gil Graham,

06:39a rock correspondent portrayed by Adam Sandler.

06:43Well, it was a long summer, so let's dispense with the preliminaries

06:47and get to the rock and roll.

06:50His ridiculous storytelling of his eventful rock concert adventures

06:54caused Norm MacDonald to forget who he was talking to.

06:57Well, sort of.

06:59After calling him by his actual name, twice in fact,

07:03MacDonald coolly caught his own slip-up at the end of this weekend update.

07:07Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler. Gil Graham. I'm sorry, Gil Graham.

07:14After an unusual performance like that,

07:16in which Sandler played a character that perfectly suited him,

07:20it made sense that MacDonald stumbled the way he did.

07:23Looks a bit like Adam Sandler.

07:26Number 3. Canteen Boy. Block Party

07:30Sure, he's naive, but Canteen Boy definitely has had his moments of wisdom.

07:35One particular instance came after he talked about the value of knowing

07:39what's inside his canteen.

07:41That's why I carry the canteen. I always know what's in it,

07:43because I'm the one who puts it in.

07:45After John Goodman further inquired about this,

07:48Sandler's character brought up quite a fair philosophical point.

07:52And he did it in a way that Goodman couldn't handle.

07:55I don't dwell on things like that.

07:57I could get killed crossing the street.

07:59If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.

08:01That's very wise, Canteen Boy.

08:03Yeah, yeah.

08:05As Goodman delivered his response,

08:07he broke into laughter and continued to chuckle

08:09until Canteen Boy moved to another part of the room.

08:12While Canteen Boy often gets mocked and even laughed at in this recurring sketch,

08:17this particular instance of laughter is a case of Goodman breaking

08:21due to Sandler's brilliance.

08:23I gotta go to the bathroom.

08:25I love him. I love Canteen Boy. Can you believe him?

08:28Number 2. Weekend Update, Opera Man Returns.

08:32He first appeared in 1992.

08:35After a few more memorable appearances during the 90s,

08:38Sandler's Opera Man didn't return until 2019.

08:42Colin Jost, host of the Weekend Update portion of the show, introduced him.

08:59As Sandler was preparing to sing about the week's news

09:02and revive his iconic character in today's world of pop culture,

09:05Jost tried to hold himself together.

09:08He only could do so for a few seconds.

09:11All it took was a few handkerchief waves from Sandler

09:14and a playful glance in Jost's direction to cause him to break into laughter.

09:25Jost must have known of the Opera Man's legendary reputation beforehand.
