NATO launches new infrastructure at military base in Latvia worth 7 million euros

The brigade is set to conduct its first large-scale field training exercise in November and demonstrate its integration into the NATO higher command structure. Full combat readiness is projected for 2026.

00:00The cutting of the red ribbon marks the opening of additional NATO multinational brigade infrastructure

00:07at the Adazi military base in Latvia.

00:11The new Canadian-funded facilities will house the brigade's tanks and armored vehicles and

00:16will provide areas for maintenance.

00:20This multimillion-euro project, I think it's in excess of seven million euro, is just one

00:25more commitment to the efforts that we are to combat the aggression that's happening

00:30in the theatre.

00:31We're bringing people in here, we're training our people, we're bringing equipment and then

00:36we're housing this equipment with infrastructure.

00:38The brigade is expected to be ready for combat by 2026.

00:43Meanwhile, in Lithuania, construction is underway for the development of a military base in

00:49Rukla.

00:50The base is funded by Germany and implemented via NATO and will be one of the two bases

00:55in Lithuania to house German soldiers.

00:58It's about deterrence and it's about Russia and we must be able to station a German armored

01:05brigade here in Lithuania in order to ensure the freedom of the Western nations.

01:10The brigade will be home to around 2,000 soldiers, including combat vehicles, and is expected

01:16to become completely operational in 2027.
