00:00How long ago the parliamentary elections seem for the disillusioned residents of this tiny

00:05French hamlet.

00:07Its less than 100 inhabitants voted unanimously for the New Popular Front and expected the

00:11prime minister to be selected from its ranks, an idea the president has dismissed.

00:16We all voted for the NFP, so it's a big disappointment.

00:21I think it's a tragedy, a catastrophe even for democracy.

00:26A feeling echoed by the New Popular Front's proposed candidate, Lucie Castet.

00:32And now the French people are being told, you got out to vote, but it meant nothing.

00:36You voted badly.

00:38Democracy means nothing to the president and that's extremely dangerous.

00:42The New Popular Front's biggest party, France En Barde, has called for a mass protest on

00:46the 7th of September.

00:48Its colleagues, the socialists, ecologists and communists, are refusing to break rank,

00:54reclining to take part in further negotiations with the president.

00:57The socialists are being asked to act as surrogates for Macron's dying regime.

01:02The answer for me is clear and simple, no, we would not allow any extension of Macron's

01:07government.

01:08Macron loyalist François Bayrou tried to put out the fire, portraying the president

01:13as a guarantor of the institutions.

01:17We have a group of parties who claim to have won the election, but that's not the case.

01:23They are faced with around twice the number of MPs who refuse to have anything to do with

01:27them.

01:30Faced with an ever more divided assembly, Macron's hunt for a prime minister is back

01:34to square one.
