00:00Sitting next to Emmanuel Macron at the Citizens' Convention on Assisted Dying, Thierry Baudet,

00:06a man that could be a potential candidate for Prime Minister.

00:10Trained as a teacher and president of the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council,

00:14Baudet was relatively unknown to the public until Monday,

00:18as Macron shows signs of appointing a government led by technocrats.

00:22Ministers wouldn't be political figures, but civil servants without partisan affiliation.

00:27A government that would therefore distance itself from France's divisive partisan politics.

00:32But appointees from civil society like Thierry Baudet would also have their challenges.

00:37He would be faced with a National Assembly that is very polarised and tumultuous.

00:42To not have come from this background would mean that he would have to adapt very quickly.

00:48He would also have to survive a motion of no confidence

00:51and criticism for his lack of a clear electoral mandate.

00:55As well as meeting with Baudet, this week the French President has also met with former presidents,

01:00François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy,

01:02as well as conservative Xavier Bertrand and former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve.
