well really this is more than just a rail project obviously we're

concentrating on the Sydney to Newcastle part of high-speed rail but

this is really a huge economic development opportunity not just for

Newcastle but the whole of the Hunter we know what a powerhouse the Hunter

Valley is for the whole of our economy and high-speed rail is very much about

transforming the Hunter Valley and particularly and obviously Newcastle as

part of that I had the great opportunity to go and have a look at high-speed rail

to over in the UK and what that is doing for Birmingham an equivalent sort of

city to Newcastle really is transformational and that's really what

this project is about it's not just about quicker commuter times and getting

people into Sydney it's actually about getting businesses out of Sydney into

Newcastle and generating those new jobs for the Hunter Valley
