00:00It's GCSE results day, so let's have a little chat about how you, the youth of Manchester,
00:04managed to do, and why it's not a massive deal if you've not got the grades you were
00:07looking for.
00:08So, the North West finds itself slap bang in the middle of a regional attainment chart
00:12with 18.6% of grades being graded at a 7 or above, though statistics make us the best
00:17in the North, which is no surprise.
00:19Girls are still dominating the guys I'm afraid, both in terms of overall attainment and attainment
00:23at grades 7 and over, but the gap has narrowed slightly, so keep going guys.
00:27If you've done well today, congratulations.
00:29Regardless of whether the grades were earned or lucky, you've put in the graft of five
00:32years at school and come out with something tangible, so really well done to you.
00:36But if not, don't stress yourself out about it.
00:38GCSE results matter only for getting into college or sixth form, it's not really got
00:43much to do with jobs or uni, so pick some lessons that you like, dust yourself off,
00:48crack on with them, I promise you'll be fine, and the great thing about sixth form is that
00:51there's a lot more coursework, so if exams aren't for you, you can find ways to make
00:54them less important.
00:56I've been Theo with Manchester World, follow us for more, congratulations and I'll see
00:59you again soon.
