Nowra's Nic Maddinson talks about signing to play with the Sydney Thunder in the coming BBL season.

00:15I really was looking forward to coming back to Sydney and spoke to the new boss, Trent Copeland,

00:20and it looked like a pretty good opportunity and a really strong squad,

00:23so I made the decision once I was coming back to Sydney, quite an easy one.

00:27Goal for myself would be to just be a little bit more consistent.

00:31I've struggled the last few years in BBL, so yeah, through injury and a lot of other stuff,

00:36I probably haven't had a smooth run the last couple of years,

00:39so yeah, just getting back to being a little bit more consistent,

00:43finding a game plan that works, and hopefully slotting into somewhere

00:46in the Thunder batting line-up for a full season.

00:49Yeah, awesome, and you mentioned that mix of old and young talent.

00:53Are there any young guns from the Thunder line-up that you're pretty keen to play with?

00:56Yeah, I think the obvious one's going to be Oli Davies.

01:00Watching from a bit of a distance and kind of getting to know him more recently,

01:05very excited to see how he goes.

01:07I think if he has the opportunity, I think regardless of what role he plays,

01:11he's going to improve very quickly and be one of the best T20 players in Australia,

01:15and I can definitely see him pushing for higher honours very, very soon.

01:20So yeah, really excited to see him and how he develops throughout the year as well.

01:23We've obviously got Sam Billings as a pre-international signing.

01:27Are you looking forward to playing with him?

01:29And also, is there anyone else in the draft that you're pretty keen for the Thunder to pick up?

01:33Yeah, very excited. I've played with Bilbo before a long time ago now,

01:38probably maybe five or six from memory.

01:40But yeah, he's a great guy, and when I heard that we were signing him before the draft,

01:44I thought it was a great fit.

01:46He had a good time at the Thunder when he's been here previously,

01:49and he offers a lot to the squad in terms of leadership and stuff like that as well.

01:53So I feel like having him around is great for Sydney Thunder.

01:56But yeah, in terms of the draft, I haven't really looked too closely at it.

02:00I think he probably would have been high on my list of players to go for.
