Boeing Grounds Entire 777X Test Fleet After Damaged Part Found Putting Wide-Body Jetliner Five Years Behind Schedule

Boeing discovered damage to a custom part between the engine and airplane structure during scheduled maintenance of one of its four 777X test aircraft. The aerospace company has grounded the entire fleet of four test planes to replace the damaged part and investigate. The grounding impacts the test flight program for the new widebody jet, which started flight testing with the FAA in July. The 777X has faced multiple delays, with deliveries now five years behind schedule.
