00:00Hello, my name is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post and here
00:06are your headlines for this morning. British retailers saw sales tick slightly higher last
00:12month as summer discounts and sporting events helped to boost sales in department stores and
00:18sportswear shops. Retail sales volumes rose by 0.5 percent in July. This figure, however,
00:27was slightly below forecast with most economists forecasting a 0.7 percent increase for the month.
00:35Now this followed a 0.9 percent slump in volumes in June which retailers blamed on the uncertainty
00:43surrounding the election and also the poor weather conditions.
00:48My name is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post.
