Film crew's special mission

A Wearside film crew is raising awareness of rare diseases through a new mini documentary.

00:00The power of film is being used by a North East crew to spread awareness of rare diseases.

00:08John Lee Taggart and his team have just finished shooting a concept short film called Hadid and I.

00:17It explores the story of a bereaved husband who has lost his wife to Neiman Pick disease type C

00:25and is struggling to navigate daily life.

00:29The film shows a group meeting with a counsellor played by John

00:33and when it doesn't help, the words of a stranger spark a new perspective on life.

00:40John is head of communications for the Washington based charity Neiman Pick UK.

00:46His aim is to look even deeper into rare genetic diseases in children using the power of film.

00:54He and his partner Chanel have faced up to it themselves with their daughter Cora Lilly.
