00:00Samsung has issued a recall of over a million electric ranges.
00:03Apparently the front-mounted knobs can be accidentally turned on by people or animals,
00:08as in this Colorado Springs home security video from last month
00:12in which a pet dog turned on a burner and set its house on fire.
00:16These stoves have been on the market since 2013.
00:19The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that since then,
00:21Samsung has received over 300 reports of accidental activation.
00:25You can find out whether the recall affects your range
00:28by checking the CPSC or Samsung websites.
00:31Owners of the affected ranges can contact Samsung to receive free locks or covers for their knobs.
00:37While you wait to receive them, make sure to be extra careful
00:40and don't leave anything on top of the range unless you're in the process of heating it up.
