Children at Bowes Railway Museum create time capsule to give future generations an insight into life in Washington

Children have been creating a time capsule to be concealed at Bowes Railway Museum.

00:00Okay then Barry, you've got a few children here doing the Time Capsule initiative, so

00:24just tell me a bit what the initiative is all about then?

00:26Well firstly, it's a nice family learning activity where people can think about the

00:32people in 50 years time and the kind of things that they can tell them about themselves.

00:37The children here today have been drawn pictures of their families and their pets and their

00:41favourite activities and things they like to do at school and I think they are the kind

00:47of things, the primary source of information that people would like to hear about in 50

00:52years time.

00:53And the plan is in 50 years for this capsule to be opened up and people will actually see

00:57what's inside?

00:58Yes, that's the plan, yeah.

00:59And some of the children that were here today, hopefully will come to the opening in 50 years
