Climbing in Canberra

Bouldering has boomed in the ACT after climbing was added to the Olympics.

00:00Yeah, I think from the time that I've been climbing at Blockhouse to now working here,

00:24I've definitely seen the increase in popularity, kind of the shift in it initially maybe being

00:30a sport that people only did if it was something that they were already doing. So if they were

00:35outdoor climbers themselves, then coming to an indoor climbing gym made sense. I think

00:39something that's really cool about bouldering now, and particularly here at Blockhouse,

00:43is that we have a really strong philosophy that bouldering is for everyone. So we want

00:48to welcome people of all experience levels, whether that's like your first time climbing

00:52and you've never heard of climbing or bouldering before, or if you're, you know, training for

00:56competition or outdoor goals, we've kind of got something here for everyone.
