00:20take on behalf of hospitals, switching off NHS software which tries to cut prescribing

00:26The action stems from a 1.9 per cent funding increase as part of the 2024-25 government

00:31contract which GPs aren't happy with.

00:34The BMA said GP services are struggling under overwhelming demand from a growing and ageing

00:39population and that the rise simply isn't enough to cover it.

00:43It comes just three days after Health Secretary Wes Streeting came to a compromise with striking

00:47junior doctors.

00:48Now, he's urged GPs to work with the government, writing in the Daily Telegraph he said the

00:52move will only punish patients.
