00:00The Medway Culture Carnival brings the magic of the Caribbean to Kent, showcasing community spirit and heritage through parades, music, games and food.
00:12Organised by the volunteer-led Medway Culture Club, the team have the honour of being one of the Mayor of Medway's chosen charities this year.
00:22Events like this are very important to send a strong, positive message to the handful of people who want to hold the UK back.
00:31Over the last week we've seen what hate can do and that battering hate with hate never works.
00:39Democracy is precious and we must do everything we can to protect it.
00:44Seeing all the children play together, have fun together, gives me hope for a brighter future where love will always triumph over hate.
00:55Money raised from the celebration will be going towards survivors of Hurricane Beryl, which devastated parts of the Caribbean in July.
01:05We're also raising money today for the Hurricane Beryl relief, which is close to some of our hearts as our parents and our heritage lies in the Caribbean
01:15and our hearts really go out to those who suffered that hurricane earlier on in July.
01:21Dozens of people came out to show their support and took part in two successful parades in the park opposite the centre.
01:29Luckily, it didn't rain this time.
01:32It's important that people recognise that there are different cultures and we should be participating in all of the various events.
01:40There are lots of things to do, there's a holiday, there's food and fun games. What else? What can I wish for more?
01:48Yeah, it's amazing. It's so good to see so many different cultures and backgrounds being celebrated, coming together across Medway. So far, so good.
01:57With its fifth anniversary coming up next year, there are hopes to transform the carnival into Medway's very own Notting Hill.
02:06Now it's time to enjoy a Caribbean staple, jerk chicken.
02:12Mmm, delicious.
02:14Henry Luck for KMTV in Medway.
