00:17Obviously for the money, which we've done, give ourselves something to look forward to in two weeks,

00:22which is another home game against, I don't know who won the other game,

00:24Ballum won, so a tough game because Ballum are a good side.

00:28When we played them in the past few years, they always have a good team,

00:32they play good football, know what they're doing, so that would be difficult,

00:35probably harder than today. But we made that a real...

00:40In my opinion, we weren't good enough, if I'm honest, definitely not good enough.

00:46We had a level of control in the first game without creating anything,

00:50and people just went through the motions a little bit,

00:52just looking like someone else might do the job for me, or just no intensity.

00:57And then the second half was embarrassing because they should have equalised.

01:01In my opinion, although we had two or three chances at the end,

01:05we're disappointed because they're gimmicks, do you know what I mean?

01:09We haven't took them. They could have scored and should have scored,

01:13and worst case, they would have got a replay Tuesday from not really doing a lot,

01:19if I'm honest, just having set-pieces.

01:22And we give away cheap fouls, had no control over the game second half,

01:27and people's performances were just poor.

01:30So it's something for us as a management team to think about

01:34because I'm not going through the season like that.

01:38And they've had opportunity pre-season, and they've had some good spells

01:41and some bad spells, and we keep making excuses that it's a new group.

01:46For me, when you're a player, it's about doing the best you can for yourself,

01:52for the team, to impact something for the team.

01:55And they just look like they're going through the motions,

01:58and someone else will do it.

02:00No-one's really going, I'm going to be the best player on the pitch.

02:03They're looking for someone else to do it.

02:05There was a couple of good performances.

02:07I'm not going to name names, but they're probably players I expected to perform

02:13because they're quite consistent.

02:15The others, just not enough.

02:18People who actually probably think they should be playing higher.

02:21I've got to be honest, they ain't going to play higher,

02:24not with that level of performance, because they're just coasting.

02:28Not an excuse, obviously, but sometimes when you play against a lower-ranked side,

02:33the levels aren't quite what they are when you play a normal league.

02:37No, I get that.

02:39I get that, and it's up to you to find those levels,

02:42and that starts by getting the ball, playing quickly, getting throw-ins,

02:45playing quickly, not wandering around, and then taking time on the ball,

02:50about moving and passing sharp.

02:52Passing was terrible today.

02:54It was real disappointing for players who are technically very good

02:57and should be able to do that.

02:59Just didn't do it, didn't move at all quick enough.

03:02No intensity, really.

03:04And that can.

03:05Listen, I've been there, done it.

03:07Teams sit off you and they let you have the ball to create that intensity.

03:10It's quite difficult, but you have to find a way.

03:13When we're disappointed, we've come away winning disappointed.

03:17Obviously, before the game, you'd have wanted intensity,

03:20and then at half-time, what did you have to say?

03:24Well, like I said, I felt we were well in control of the game,

03:29but without them having the better chances, we didn't have a shot, first off.

03:33Didn't have one shot, a goal, and scored from a set-piece.

03:37So all that play is pointless if you can't deliver in the final third.

03:43I say it so many times, it's the hardest bit to do,

03:46but it looked pretty easy for me today.

03:49It looked like we could and should have scored three or four goals

03:53if we had upped it, but they didn't, and they didn't have the quality.

03:57I'd have been fuming if I was sat down there playing the centre-forward

04:00if I didn't get a chance and scored today.

04:02I'd have been really disappointed.

04:04So the goal did come from a corner, George?

04:07Yeah, and Vic can take full credit for that,

04:09because we haven't even worked on set-pieces.

04:11We went through something briefly in the change room,

04:13which they've executed well.

04:15So we'll take that as a positive, a good header from George,

04:18who I thought did well today for a young lad.

04:21He's still got a lot to learn, but he had a good game.

04:24Other than that, some people have to puff.

04:28He just didn't show enough desire.

04:32Second half, the chances Sandsville did have

04:34were maybe just from free-kicks, weren't they?

04:36Some fouls and then balls into the box.

04:38From theirs?

04:39Yeah, definitely.

04:40We said that's the way they're going to look to get in the game, probably,

04:43because I didn't see much of a threat, if I'm honest, in general play.

04:47But give away cheap free-kicks and corners and fouls,

04:50and we've got people diving to take the easier option.

04:54I'm going to dive on the floor, and it's just weak.

04:57It screamed of being weak, to be honest.

05:00There were chances for that second, but it didn't take them, obviously.

05:04No, Jaheim's done really well on two occasions,

05:07showed good feet, beat his men,

05:09laid it on a plate for two people, and they've not been able to finish.

05:12They can look back at the performance of everyone else

05:15in order to get them the ball.

05:17It wasn't good enough, but when they've had the chance,

05:19they haven't been able to put it in the back of the net.

05:21So they need to look at themselves, because that killed the game.

05:25If we'd got a second, the game might have been different,

05:27but we didn't even look like it until that final.

05:29I think it was 15, 20 minutes, probably.

05:32We had a couple of breaks.

05:34I'd say, yeah, obviously, if they get that second,

05:36they've got to go all out, and there's big gaps.

05:39Yeah, yeah.

05:41Listen, we're a very young group,

05:44and the confidence they need to take is that we've won the game.

05:47They might not feel confident after what I've just said in there, to be fair,

05:50but we have won the game. That was the important thing.

05:53We give them praise when they've earned it, do you know what I mean?

05:57So I don't think we've got no problems with playing young players,

06:00so they should be able to take the criticism and try and take it on board.

06:04Won the game and a clean sheet as well, I guess.

06:06Yeah, we haven't had a clean sheet all pre-season,

06:08so the fact we haven't conceded is good.

06:11Yeah, to that, again, another positive.

06:14I'll say, Dalham, in the next round,

06:16who I'll see, you'll remember, when they come back on Wednesday,

06:19in place of the passing staff.

06:21Yeah, they're a good side. They always have a good team.

06:24They're always good on the ball.

06:26They'll look to probably press us, which might help, to be fair.

06:30It might help one game, it might be a bit of a quicker tempo,

06:33because it was slow today. Pitch was slow, new balls were slow.

06:38Yeah, the ball was getting stuck under people's feet.

06:42So we can have loads of excuses,

06:44but for me, we should be winning that game comfortably,

06:46and it wasn't comfortable.

06:48I'll say, next up, this year, you're going to be doing the league,

06:51home game, at Dalham. Dalham's the start, obviously.

06:54Big game for the 4-2, I guess.

06:56Yeah, it is, and it'll be a very tough game,

06:59because we know what they're about.

07:01They're looking to win the league,

07:03so we're going to have to be right on it.

07:05It has to be ten times better than that,

07:07otherwise, be prepared for it not to go too well.

07:12Hopefully, we'll have a good couple of training sessions this week.

07:17We're looking to get another game in Tuesday.

07:20A bit of a trialist sort of game.

07:23The other team will be made up with my other players that we've called in

07:26and try and get some idea of our shape and our play

07:31and hope that can help us on Saturday.

07:33So some trialists, and you're still looking at what's out there?

07:37I've got to be honest,

07:39and I think with what's just happened today in terms of performance,

07:43if someone becomes available who's better than what we've got,

07:47I like the group of lads,

07:49but if you can't deliver, we ain't going to accept it.

07:53So it's down to them.

07:55It's how football works.

07:56If you can't do what we want,

07:58be prepared that you might not be here.
