Nicolas Garcia has been diving since he was six.
00:07
Twenty-three years later, he and dive partner Adrián Abadía have had their best ever year
00:12
in the three-metre synchro, winning silver at the European Championships and a historic
00:17
bronze at the Doha Worlds.
00:20
It was Spain's first ever diving World Championship medal.
00:24
Now a first Olympic podium in diving beckons.
00:45
Adrián is a rising star at 22.
00:48
When he and Nico started diving together, there was an instant calm chemistry.
00:54
We're basically like a couple because we live together too, but it's very comfortable.
00:59
We're water, the two of us.
01:01
It's quite comfortable working with Nico.
01:04
When the Spanish duo won bronze in Doha, the Chinese pair of Long Daoyi and Wang Zhongyuan
01:09
topped the podium and are favourites to be champions in France too.
01:15
China's diving dominance is almost complete.
01:18
They won seven of eight available gold medals in Tokyo and are looking to repeat that performance
01:24
in Paris.
01:25
But look out for Spain's three-metre synchro pair of Nicolás García and Adrián Abadía,
01:31
who have their sights set on a podium in Paris too.
01:37
In fact, Team China aims to go one better diving for eight out of eight gold medal perfection
01:43
in Paris.
01:44
Eight being a hugely meaningful number in Chinese culture.
01:49
The great eight was foiled in Tokyo only by a brilliant performance from Britain's Tom
01:53
Daly and Maddy Lee in the ten-metre synchro.
01:56
We admire what the Chinese are doing.
02:01
They play in a different league.
02:03
They're on a different level.
02:05
We don't know how they do it, but they're years ahead of the jumps in Spain, for example.
02:14
If you want to learn how to jump, watch videos of the Chinese.
02:19
They do everything perfectly.
02:21
Eight out of eight sounds almost impossible, but if anyone can, this Chinese diving team
02:27
can.
02:28
