Southport MP says the whole town is 'in shock and mourning'

Southport MP Patrick Hurley says the whole town is in "shock and mourning" following the stabbing attack which left two children dead and nine others with critical injuries. "It's a very small town, Southport, and so many people will be impacted firsthand. They will know the families and they will know the children themselves," he said.    Report by Kennedyl. 00:03I came back from Westminster late last night to be with the community

00:08because I think it's important that people see that MPs and the government

00:13are on their side this morning.

00:15The whole town, it's a very small town Southport,

00:18so many people will be impacted first hand.

00:21They will know the families, they will know the children themselves

00:27and this could have been any one of us that this would happen to.

00:30I think it's important that we let the emergency services and the police do their job

00:37but most importantly we look to see if we can come together as a town

00:40and to get through this today.
