Tearful mothers of the girls murdered in the Southport attack have called for truth, accountability and change in emotional statements at the public inquiry.

00:00The heartbroken mother of a seven-year-old girl killed in the Southport attack has told a public inquiry,
00:07I need to understand how this happened.
00:09Elsie Dot Stancom 7 died along with BB King 6 and nine-year-old Alice Da Silva Agria
00:14when Axel Rudiger Barna carried out the stabbing at the Taylor Swift-themed dance class on the 29th of July last year.
00:20Giving impact evidence to the Southport inquiry at Liverpool Town Hall on Monday,
00:24her mother Jenny Stancom said, Elsie only went to dance, make bracelets and I never got to bring her home.
00:31I walk past an empty bed every night, I stare into her room praying this nightmare will end but it never does, we live it every day.
00:40She called for a focus on preventing individuals with an intent to cause harm from ever reaching the point of carrying out such acts.
00:48She added, we will fight for justice, for change, to keep our children safe.
00:52Changes need to be made to prevent this from ever happening again.
00:57Alexandra Agria sat alongside Sergio as a statement from the mother was read on behalf by a legal representative.
01:04Mrs Agria described her beautiful, chatty, happy little girl saying Alice was their only child.
01:10The inquiry has been set up to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and the events leading up to it.
01:16This will include examining an overall timeline of the perpetrator's history and interactions with various public bodies,
01:23including criminal justice, education, social care and health care,
01:27as well as decision making and information sharing by local services and agencies.
01:32BB's mother, Lauren King, said no statement, no report, no apology will ever bring BB back.
01:38But this inquiry cannot become another box ticking episode.
