Pair of dueling meteor showers to peak on July 29-31

Get ready to head outside for not one but two meteor showers peaking on the nights of July 29-31. The Alpha Capricornids and the Southern Delta Aquarids will cap off the end of the month.

00:00From July 29th to July 31st, get ready for the peak of back-to-back meteor showers, the

00:11Southern Delta Aquarids and the Alpha Capricornids.

00:16The dueling showers combine to produce about 20 meteors per hour.

00:20Even if you miss the shower on one night due to cloudy weather, you will get up to three

00:24chances.

00:25The double meteor shower will remain consistent for three nights.

00:29Both showers' radiant points are located toward the constellation Aquaris and Capricornis,

00:35looking south around midnight.

00:37You do not have to look in that direction, though, to see the lights show.

00:41As for the moon, it will continue to wane from a last quarter on July 29th to a waning

00:45crescent moon on July 31st, which means the night sky will be favorable throughout the

00:50peak of the double meteor shower.
