A Melaka City Council (MBMB) employee pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court, Melaka on Wednesday (July 24) to two charges of receiving bribes totalling RM2,700 from an advertising contractor in Melaka in 2021 and last year.

00:1641-year-old Muhammad Firdaus Abdul Aziz, an Assistant Administrative Officer at the City
00:22Council, allegedly received RM2,200 and RM500 in cash from Syarikat Pusat Pengiklanan Prisma
00:29Manager Ong Ah Siong for supply work offered by the local authority.
00:34The offences were allegedly committed in October 2021 and in January last year in the Melaka
00:40Tengah District.
00:42He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum two years jail,
00:47a fine or both upon conviction.

00:56Ali proposed bail at RM5,000 with additional conditions, including monthly reporting to
01:02the MACC office in Melaka and surrendering his passport.
01:07The accused, who was not represented, mitigated for a lower bail.
01:11Judge Elizabeth Payawan set bail at RM4,000, imposed the conditions and scheduled a re-mention
01:17on August 14.
