00:00The story around Xander Schauffele entering 2024's golfing campaign was that he was always
00:09close could finish runner-up at the majors but never come through with a victory.
00:14Oh how that has changed here in 2024.
00:18Two major titles in the same season.
00:21The sixth golfer ever to win his first two major championships in the same year on the
00:27PGA Tour.
00:28So Keith you mentioned how this all has changed.
00:32I ask you that question.
00:33How did Xander Schauffele change the narrative around his game in major championships?
00:40Well if you guys remember Rome there was a lot of controversy swirling around he and
00:44Cantlie and did they want to be there and you know a lot of a lot of talk about how
00:49Xander and his father Stefan how Stefan was controlling camp and then all fall you know
00:55Xander made a bunch of leadership decisions and we're all happy to see it and we're all
01:00proud of him because now that he's 30 years old with eight wins in two majors look what
01:05he has done.
01:06His dad was no longer his primary coach as of December.
01:09He brought on Chris Como who's done a fantastic job transforming his game.
01:14He's made him longer off the tee.
01:15He's made him way more consistent.
01:17I mean we're talking about what 17 starts this year and the guy's got 12 top tens and
01:21two majors.
01:23That's pretty impressive.
01:24So from a leadership perspective taking control of his career going into 2024 becoming his
01:30own man at 30 stepping away from dad's umbrella and then having his own new coach you know
01:36embracing his caddy who is a college friend and accepting that criticism and saying we
01:41can do this together all those top ten and majors all that consistency is now really
01:46starting to pay off and you got to give this guy a ton of credit for the decisions that
01:50he's made this year because it could have gone sideways.
01:53And to his credit it did not and he's following through in historic fashion.
