Remembering Apollo 11's historic landing on the moon

July 20 marks the 55th anniversary of Apollo 11's historic landing on the moon back in 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made their iconic first steps.

00:00Apollo 11 was arguably one of the greatest achievements in all of humankind.

00:34That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

00:41Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon for the very first time, and we accomplished

00:47the goal, the national goal, of putting a man on the moon by the end of the decade.

00:53It inspired an entire generation of young men, young women, to enter the field of science,

01:00technology, engineering, and math.

01:03It was a boost to our nation's posture all across the globe.

01:09It is an achievement that is going to be hard to beat.

01:13By studying the moon, we can learn more about the history of the earth and changes over

01:18time that have happened.
