00:00To see Joey Prawns on the docket, to see him actually live on C2C the way it was meant
00:13to be, go for the two.
00:16Your boy, Joe Lisi, you hear him on Carver and Lisi, you've seen him on Coast to Coast
00:22brilliantly a million times and he's back again to talk college football.
00:26He has been doing his own college recruitment trip over the last couple of weeks looking
00:32at colleges for his lovely daughter.
00:35How has it been going, Prawns?
00:38Prawns is happy.
00:40We might have one.
00:41You never know.
00:42Monmouth is in the mix, Scotty.
00:44So beautiful campus.
00:45Love the shoreline out there in New Jersey and just keeping me busy in the offseason.
00:50Last time you and I spoke, you were out in Vegas covering the fights.
00:55I was out in Vegas and we saw Tank Davis look fantastic with a brutal knockout of Frank
01:01Martin and then we saw the Grateful Dead at the Sphere.
01:04We saw it all.
01:05Hopefully, he's going to go back to do some more big fights in the near future.
01:09Joe, we were talking about the SEC today at great length and I was stunned to listen to
01:16Billy Napier talk about how long it's going to take him to get the house in order in Gainesville
01:24in the swamp.
01:25There is no way that those fans down there and this is one of the hardest schools to
01:30get into in America.
01:32Everybody wants to go to Gainesville.
01:34Everybody wants to go to Athens.
01:36It's hard to get in there.
01:37You think those students pay all that money to go to Florida, they want to watch that
01:40football team lose every year like he's been losing down there?
01:43That guy is doomed.
01:45He is and the schedule doesn't add to that, Scotty.
01:48They have an atrocious schedule.
01:50The ability for this team to potentially get to six wins is an uphill battle.
01:55Even with an experienced quarterback of Graham Mertz returning, they lose their starting
01:59wide receiver, Ricky Pearsall to the NFL, Trevor Etienne is now playing for the Bulldogs
02:04across town for Athens and the Georgia Bulldogs.
02:08This is not going to be easy for Billy Napier.
02:11It's setting up to look like Ron Zook 2.0 and I brought it up all week as well.
02:16Who do they go to?
02:17I know it's an attractive job, but what type of name would you want to grab if you're the
02:23Florida Gators if they live to, let's say, a 5-7 overall record?
02:28You're not going to get the likes of Nick Saban or anybody else.
02:31Do they go to a guy like Ed Ogeron, a retread like that, or do you go to a fresh coordinator?
02:37I guess only time will tell.
02:41I don't want to jump out of the SEC yet, but I do want to talk about, you know, I mentioned
02:49Chris DeBall, he's, you know, the most overhyped coach I've ever seen.
02:54He's gone down to Coral Gables, it's gotten worse.
02:58He gets all these great recruits, tons of speed, tons of athleticism, a five-star out
03:03the yin, and they don't win.
03:06And then Florida State, all they do is sue people and complain about the conference,
03:11and Clemson's not happy.
03:13How far are we from seeing Chris DeBall die in Coral Gables and the ACC implode if Florida
03:20State and Clemson leave?
03:22I think very close.
03:23I think the potential for Florida State and Clemson to bolt to the likes of the Big 12
03:28is a possibility.
03:29We already heard of the Big 10, and SEC wouldn't take on both of those schools respectively,
03:36so we'll see how that plays out throughout the regular season.
03:39That's behind the scenes.
03:40And you're right about Chris DeBall.
03:42I mean, the pressure's on.
03:43I mean, it starts week number one against Billy Napier in Florida.
03:47It's an arch-rival in-state type of game, and basically Florida's playing with house
03:52money because everybody believes the Miami Hurricanes are back.
03:56We saw this a couple of years ago when De'Ara King came from Houston to try and resurrect
04:01that offense.
04:02Now, it is Cam Ward, it is Damian Martinez on paper.
04:06It's a dynamic duo, but we've seen Chris DeBall, coaches team down.
04:10I don't know.
04:11I need to see it before I believe it.
04:13The biggest thing, Scotty, they can score some points, but you can't lose to the likes
04:18of North Carolina and North Carolina State within the conference.
04:22You can't get kicked around by teams like Georgia Tech, and their defense sucks.
04:26So until that changes, I can't buy into Chris DeBall.
04:29I can't.
04:30I just can't do it.
04:31You know what I'm talking about?
04:33We are a long way away from the days of the U and Ed Reed and, you know, Jonathan Vilma
04:39and all those dominant defensive players.
04:40We're a long way away from Benny Blades.
04:43Yeah.
04:44We can't play now.
04:46It's terrible.
04:47Hey, so what kind of job do you think DeBall will do in Tuscaloosa?
04:54I think he, if given time, I think he could do a good job.
04:59But I've said this time and time again, Alabama is like coaching in New York.
05:02There is no regression.
05:04Those fans want to see at least a 10-2 season, a possibility of an SEC championship and a
05:11college football playoff appearance.
05:13If he doesn't sniff that this year, and let's say it goes 8-4, 9-3 respectively, could look
05:20like a Brian Horson for Auburn a couple of years ago.
05:23He's a very good coach, but the bullseyes on his back, it's a new scheme offensively
05:27and defensively.
05:28And when you lose your best offensive player in Isaiah Bond to Texas and Caleb Downs to
05:34Ohio State, I mean, that's not easy.
05:37Even though they get five-star talent now, he has to coach them up, and they're not going
05:41to wait around.
05:42So I think 9-3, potentially year number one.
05:45Let's see if he's there in year number two and year number three.
05:49Does Sarkeesian and Texas and yours live up to the hype in the next level at the SEC?
05:54A lot of people think, including Saban, that it's Georgia against Texas.
05:59I like this Texas team.
06:00I think they're loaded.
06:01What do you think of them?
06:02I think on paper they're loaded, but again, you could go into Tuscaloosa, then get a situation,
06:08and knock off Alabama.
06:10Can you do it week to week to week in terms of the SEC?
06:14Defensively, they're active.
06:16We got to get Joe to refresh his signal where he is.
06:21We've lost him for a second there, technically speaking.
06:24And bottom line, do you think, can we go back to that question?
06:30See how you sound now, Joe.
06:31We lost you for a second.
06:33That's all right.
06:34I think that Texas on paper could do it, Scotty, in terms of the talent that they have.
06:39But the week to week of the SEC schedule, you can knock off Alabama in terms of a one-game
06:44situation like they did last year, but then can you face the likes of Georgia?
06:49Can you go to Mississippi State?
06:51Can you go to the likes of, let's say, Auburn and some of those other teams?
06:55Back to back weeks.
06:56I think that's a very tough ask in year number one.
06:59This isn't the Big 12.
07:00And SEC offense and defense aligns week in and week out.
07:04And again, the bullseye is on their back.
07:06They do have potentially one of the best quarterbacks in the conference in yours.
07:10But again, I think this team potentially could be 9-3, 10-2 at best.
07:15So the Big 10 has changed dramatically.
07:19How do you think the West Coast teams are going to fit in the Midwest?
07:24I think Oregon can fit really well.
07:26Again, because of how Dan Lanning's coached that team up, I think they're going to be
07:30right there with Ohio State in regards to potentially winning a Big 10 title.
07:35Dylan Gabriel, an elite quarterback, 30-plus touchdowns, and he could do it on the ground
07:39as well.
07:40The veteran experience is there.
07:42And I think Lanning's a fantastic coach.
07:44What do you get out of the new D.C. in terms of USC Lynn coming over from UCLA?
07:50Because if he can make that unit at least a top 35, they have the potential to be an
07:558-4, 9-3 team as well.
07:58And surprise some people, Miller-Moss is good.
08:00They can outscore teams in terms of the Big 10.
08:03It's going to be, can they shut down the run?
08:05I mean, you want to take a long shot for USC at 24-25-1 to steal the Big 10.
08:11I think it's great value.
08:13Still a tough ask.
08:14I like what they're doing right now.
08:16How do you think the Big 12 is going to be?
08:19It is stacked.
08:20Yeah, it's going to be top to bottom.
08:23Very competitive.
08:24I think there's a number of teams that could come out.
08:26I mean, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, you name it.
08:30But I'm going with Joey Maguire and the Red Raiders.
08:3314-1 shot.
08:34Brennan Morton, Todd Brooks, he's always coming back.
08:38And he's a rainbow gambler.
08:40Keep an eye out for Texas Tech.
08:41How about your boy Joey Prine's going with Texas Tech.
08:44Sermonella went with Oklahoma State.
08:47So I can't wait to watch that Big 12.
08:49I can't wait to watch the Big 10.
08:51I'm sick and tired of Cristobal hearing how great they are.
08:55My Canes need to win games.
08:56I want to watch Ward to see if he's much of a badass as he was at Washington State.
