00:04GOP candidate Donald Trump has now announced his running mate. This is J.D. Vance, the Republican
00:10senator from Ohio and now vice presidential candidate. So what should you know about him?
00:15Well, he was once a serious critic of Donald Trump, but more recently he's become a hard-lined
00:20MAGA supporter. Former U.S. Marine, he wrote and published a memoir in 2016 titled Hillbilly Elegy.
00:26The New York Times called the book a compassionate, discerning sociological analysis of the white
00:32underclass that has helped drive the politics of rebellion, particularly the ascent of Donald J.
00:37Trump. That's despite having called Trump America's Hitler in a private Facebook message to a law
00:42school classmate just a couple of years prior, as reported by Vice. But by 2020, his conversion to
00:48Trumpism was well underway, voting for Trump in the election against Biden. Two years later,
00:53Trump returned the favor, endorsing Vance in his Senate race in Ohio. Shortly after telling an
00:58audience in Ohio, J.D. is kissing my ass. He wants my support so bad. J.D. Vance is anti-support for
01:04Ukraine, anti-Trump prosecutions, anti-union labor reform, and has made it clear after
01:10Trump's four remaining years are up in the White House, he sees himself in the Oval Office.
