00:00Hey, hey friends, my name is Renee and I'm a 24-hour newborn care specialist and I wanted
00:07to tell you a little bit about what I do.
00:10My job is to provide expert care for a newborn and support for their families in the first
00:17few weeks of their life.
00:19So aside from assisting with feeding and diaper changes and laundry and soothing the baby,
00:24I also help to establish and maintain sleep routines, establish and maintain sleep schedules
00:33and things of that sort.
00:35I help to educate first-time parents on newborn care, safety, and on their newborn's development.
00:43My role while I'm with these families is also about helping parents to build confidence,
00:50especially first-time parents, helping them to build confidence in their ability to take
00:56care of their babies.
00:58Seeing a new mom or a new dad light up when they have mastered a new technique is very,
01:05very rewarding.
01:07Caring for these tiny babies and ensuring that they are safe while helping mom get much
01:14needed rest from childbirth, which in some cases is very or have been very traumatic,
01:23is one of the most fulfilling things that I can imagine.
01:28My role in the home helps to alleviate stress and anxiety during the early postpartum days.
01:37But the best part of my job, the very best part, is the incredible bonds that I get to
01:43form with both the baby and with their families, and these connections, they will last a lifetime.
