00:00Bersatu Deputy President Ahmad Faizal Azumu has confirmed that he will not defend his

00:07post at the party polls in October and will give way to Secretary General Hamza Zaynudin.

00:14He said he is doing so with an open heart after having discussed the matter with party

00:18president Muhyiddin Yassin, Berita Harian reported.

00:22He said Muhyiddin made the suggestion to avoid any clashes and that Hamza has been asked

00:26by the grassroots and leadership to take over the post he currently holds.

00:31Yesterday, Muhyiddin said Faizal would step down as deputy president and run for one of

00:36the three vice presidents' posts instead.

00:39Muhyiddin added that former Salangor Menteri Basar Azmin Ali will be offered the secretary

00:43general's post given his ability and political experience.

00:48The PN chairman had commented in a speech earlier in the day that the party polls would

00:52likely see no competition for the top posts following negotiations among the leadership.
