00:01Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:03As the co-chair and founder of the House Election Integrity Caucus,
00:06I rise in support of the SAVE Act,
00:08which will safeguard the right for every American citizen to vote.
00:12And we must have proof of citizenship in order to vote.
00:16Since President Biden took office,
00:17there have been over 9.7 million illegal immigrant encounters across our nation,
00:22threatening our communities, our national security,
00:24and now the Democrats are attempting to undermine our elections.
00:28There are over 2 million so-called gotaways.
00:32Many states, including New York, allow illegal immigrants to get registered to vote
00:37and also to have driver's licenses.
00:40There's no requirement, they're on their honor,
00:43to prove whether or not they're actually citizens of this country.
00:46Article 2 of the New York State Constitution sets forth in Section 1,
00:51every citizen shall be entitled to vote in every election.
00:55That is citizens.
00:56So if in order to protect the sacred right to vote,
00:58we have one citizen, one vote in this country.
01:01And yet Democrats oppose the SAVE Act
01:04because they want millions of illegal immigrants they allowed into our country
01:07to vote in order to undermine and manipulate the outcome of our elections.
01:12This will undermine our sacred right to vote,
01:14the most profound expression of our self-governance.
