00:00Humans have historically developed some pretty fast objects, from high-speed jets to speeding
00:08bullets.
00:09However, according to NASA, the Parker Solar Probe is the fastest thing ever built by man.
00:14The space agency says the probe is currently traveling at an unfathomable 394,736 miles
00:22per hour, which Science Alert reports that's fast enough to fly from New York to L.A. in
00:27just 20 seconds, or fly around the planet 15 times in an hour.
00:31This all comes after the probe's 20th trip around the sun.
00:34The Parker Solar Probe is also the human-made object with the record for closest solar flyby
00:38as well, coming within just 4.5 million miles of it.
00:42And its next pass is set to be even closer, coming within 3.8 million miles of the sun.
00:47But the spacecraft can take it.
00:49The Parker Solar Probe can withstand temperatures upwards of 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit.
00:54So whose speed record did the Solar Probe break?
00:56Well, its own.
00:57Still, the Solar Probe isn't done yet.
01:00Its mission still involves many more trips around the sun.
01:03And who knows what records it might yet set.
