00:00The New York Times editorial board was among the first prominent voices to call for President
00:04Biden's withdrawal after his disastrous debate performance, and they're not backing down.
00:08On Tuesday, the board published another editorial headlined,
00:11The Democratic Party Must Speak the Plain Truth to the President.
00:14In it, they argued that in the days since the debate,
00:17Biden has continued to appear as a man in decline.
00:20And they directly addressed other elected Democrats, saying that the campaign against
00:23Biden's candidacy has so far been a whisper campaign that is inadequate to this moment.
00:28In response, Biden campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster told Politico,
00:32The last time Joe Biden lost the New York Times editorial board's endorsement,
00:35it turned out pretty well for him.
00:37This was in reference to the 2020 primary campaign, not the general election.
00:41On Tuesday, Biden's opposition within the party seemed to be faltering,
00:44with one anonymous House Democrat telling Axios,
00:46As someone who wanted the reckoning and is really disappointed that it's over, trust me,
00:50it's over.
00:51But as of Tuesday night, the public airing of concerns was not over yet.
00:54Democratic Senator Michael Bennett of Colorado appeared on CNN to say that
00:58Biden's candidacy could cost the party more than just the White House.
01:02Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election,
01:06and maybe win it by a landslide and take with him the Senate and the House.
