00:04An Airbnb host says he was left with a $640 bill after a couple ran the gas and water for 25 days
00:11at his rental. Lee tells SBS News the couple booked the sole home but then wanted to cancel,
00:18claiming they had contracted COVID-19. Lee asked for proof of a positive result,
00:22but says that was not provided. SBS reports he visited the empty home and found the windows
00:28open and the gas left on. According to Seoul's Water Authority, the quantity is the same as
00:33eight adults would use in two months. Lee told SBS, quote, seeing how the utility bills went up
00:40by quite a lot, I wonder how unkind they have to be to be able to do such a thing, unquote.
00:46Lee said he unsuccessfully tried to get Airbnb to help cover the cost. Airbnb's air cover
00:52protection program covers guest damage to homes and damage to guest belongings, but not high
00:57utility bills.
