00:00Photography enthusiast Darmin Ladiro saw a so-called cute moment involving two elephants
00:09when he passed by the Feda Umar settlement near Tawau recently.
00:13He couldn't help but film the incident, like what he had done on other occasions whenever
00:18he saw the animals.
00:21He said the mother elephant was trying to stop her baby elephant from going to a nearby
00:25river by using her trunk.
00:28He said she was trying to lead the calf back into the forest.
00:31He said sightings of the iconic Borneo elephant, or known as pygmy elephant, have been rare
00:37until seven years ago.
00:38He said a tree-planting project was going on in the area and the elephants had been
00:43coming out to look for food.
00:49The 50-year-old Darmin is also a Bahasa Malaysia teacher at SK Umas Umas.
00:56He said elephants could also be seen along main roads in the area and there is a human-elephant
01:01conflict as they are fighting for space.
