00:06Here I have a cup of 250 gms
00:09I am taking 450 gms of rice and 50 gms of lentils
00:15You can see in the video how I am measuring from the cup
00:20After washing the rice 2-3 times, add 2 cups of water from the same cup from which we measured the rice
00:28Add water and soak it for 1 hour
00:31If you are in a hurry, you can soak it for less time
00:34In the name of Allah, let's start the preparation of khichdi
00:38Turn on the stove and take a kadhai
00:40Add 1 tsp of oil in the kadhai
00:43When the oil is hot, add whole spices
00:46Keep the flame on low and add whole spices
00:50Add 2 cardamoms, 2 cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 3-4 bay leaves and 1 tsp of shahjeera
00:58Let the whole spices stay in the oil for a few seconds
01:03By doing this, the spices release their flavors in the oil
01:07And the khichdi gets a good flavor and taste
01:11Peel 2 medium sized onions, chop them and add them in the oil
01:15Fry them in medium to high flame while stirring
01:20Fry the onions till they turn golden brown
01:24You can see in the video that the color of the onions is changing
01:29The onions have turned golden brown
01:31Now add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste
01:35Fry the ginger garlic paste well
01:40Keep stirring
01:42This step is important
01:44If you don't fry it properly, the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste spoils the recipe
01:50I have measured rice in the same cup
01:52I am adding 2 cups of water in the same cup
01:59After adding water, add chopped green coriander, chopped mint and 3-4 chopped green chilies
02:07Add 1 tsp of turmeric
02:10Mix it well
02:12Cover the lid and let it boil in high flame
02:20Open the lid and check
02:22The water has boiled
02:24Now add 2 tsp of salt
02:27I have taken 2 cups of rice, so I am adding 2 tsp of salt
02:32Add the rice
02:34I am adding the rice with the water
02:37After adding the rice, stir it with a spoon and cook it in high flame till the water evaporates
02:49The water has evaporated
02:53Now we will cover the lid and let it simmer for 10 minutes
