Thank you very much. Thank you. Firstly I'd like to say a big thank you to the police,
00:22
to the returning officer, all the election staff and all of the many folks who have been
00:27
here counting and those who are staffing the polling stations all day. Thank you. I'd also
00:32
like to thank the other counters for their clean campaigns. Thank you. And a massive thanks to my
00:38
agent and the Lib Dem team, all volunteers who have helped this campaign in so many ways. It's
00:43
been a long six weeks and thank you so much for what we have achieved. This has been a momentous
00:49
day. I'm so grateful to the voters of Newton Abbott constituency for giving me their trust
00:55
to be their representative in Parliament. Thank you. I will do my best for you, our constituency
01:02
and our country. The country has changed after today. Now we have hope that things will start
01:09
to get better. We must put behind us the years of taking Newton Abbott constituency in Devon
01:15
for granted, leaving our hospitals, schools and roads underfunded. We must move out of this cost
01:22
of living crisis, which collided with the cost of housing crisis, all the while allowing big
01:27
energy companies and banks to continue to make enormous profits. It doesn't have to be like this.
01:34
I know that things can change for the better. I'm proud the Liberal Democrats of Cambridge
01:40
started building council homes for the first time in a generation and now at Westminster I'll do
01:46
everything I can to get the new government to enable more councils to build more council homes.
01:52
We will do everything we can to stop water companies pumping sewage into our rivers and
01:56
seas and to stop them putting shareholders before customers and the environment. It's
02:02
not going to be easy but now we can start to make a brighter future. Thank you very much.
