00:00What was the state of their marriage before he died?
00:03Like, I know that they were, you know, talking about, you know, becoming parents again.
00:07So where were they at the at the time of their death?
00:10Well, he even had a name picked out.
00:11If it was a boy or a girl, they're going to call the child Flynn.
00:17I think, you know, you get to a point in their lives where they finally,
00:20once again, it all hinges on whether or not
00:22Carolyn could handle the pressure and it seemed as if she was doing much better
00:26in those closing weeks of their marriage.
00:29What were they like as a couple?
00:31What did friends think of them as a couple?
00:32Were they totally on board with them?
00:35Was Carolyn the perfect match for him?
00:37Well, I thought the most insightful comment was one of their best friends,
00:41and he told me that, you know, in life there are gardens and there are gardeners
00:49in a relationship, a relationship to work.
00:51One person has to be the garden and the other person needs to be the gardener,
00:56tending to the needs.
00:57The trouble was they were both gardens.
01:00So they were both, they both need to be attending by somebody.
01:04And, you know, I think that they're very high strung on a certain level.
01:09I think they had tempers because we saw that
01:12exhibited in several arguments that they had in public.
01:17But by and large, you know, people thought that she was worth it.
01:22And that toward, again, the end of their lives,
01:26they had managed to reach this kind of
01:33rapprochement in their relationship, whatever kind of
01:38friction that there had been was being dealt.
01:41He was making accommodations for her,
01:43and she was finally making them for him.
01:46Did John propose several times to Carolyn,
01:48or was it just the one time and she just didn't say yes right away?
01:52Yeah, you have to wait.
01:53Yeah, well, it depends on who you talk to.
01:56But I think he proposed several times informally and finally put his foot down
02:02and she knew it was time to accept.
02:04She wasn't ever after him.
02:05That was so appealing to him.
02:08You can imagine how he was pursued by women constantly.
02:12He didn't have to ever go after somebody.
02:16But in her case, he did.
02:18And I think by playing it cool and playing hard to get,
02:22she was pretty smart because that's what complimented him, I think.
02:26So that's probably what intrigued him the most about her, you think?
02:29Absolutely, absolutely.
02:31And people say she was very much like Jackie in a way that she was very classy,
02:36very cool, you know, and again, someone who would not be toyed with necessarily.
02:43She was, you know, they were surrounded.
02:45Don't forget, the men were not always famous for, you know,
02:50handling their relationships with the opposite sex with great care.
02:55And he apparently was, because as I said,
02:58I could never find any of his former girlfriends or loves who
03:03felt anything but warmly toward him.
03:05Still.
