Evening News reporter Jamie Saunderson reports from Comely Bank Road, which was closed by police on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 2, as they deal with a a ‘potential item of ordnance’. The road was re-opened at around 5.30pm, two and a half hours after it was closed.

00:00So I'm here just now on Comerley Bank Road which was closed for a couple of hours this afternoon
00:05due to the discovery of an item of historic ordnance.
00:08Now the report was made just about 3.15pm and the road was closed.
00:12As you can see it's now back open. It's a busy street and there's plenty of traffic moving through.
00:16There was an order in place from police for members of the public to avoid the area and that has now been lifted.
00:22Now a local resident here told the Evening News that they understood the discovery was made
00:27in the garden of a home which is currently being renovated.
00:30But that order has now been lifted and police say that the exposure itself has been taken to be disposed of safely.
