00:01Hello, I'm James McMirovich and I'm here at Westminster Road in West Bromwich.

00:04We've been out speaking to shopkeepers, locals, anyone out shopping to talk about the election

00:09because with a few days to go, obviously there's a lot of things that people are still thinking

00:13about in terms of the election.

00:14The cost of living, immigration, their housing, everything like that.

00:18So we've been out to have a chat with them to see what they think.

00:20Here's what they've had to say.

00:21All right, so with the election a few days away, I mean, how are you feeling about it

00:26at the moment?

00:27I'm not really interested because whoever gets in, it's all basically going to be the

00:32same.

00:33Is that sort of the basic viewpoint then?

00:34You feel that no party is offering it?

00:36Do you think that a change of government would bring a change for yourself or not?

00:40Not really, no.

00:41What are the issues that are most affecting you at the moment that you'd like to see the

00:46government's work on?

00:47I don't know, to be honest, I'm not politically minded, so...

00:51But are you...

00:52I was going to say, are you affected by the cost of living or by... is there anything

00:56that's happening at the moment that you would like to see change?

01:01Not really, like I said, I haven't made any thoughts, but I mean, we all want less taxes

01:06and stuff like that, but it's not going to happen, is it?

01:09Whoever gets in, it's all going to be taxes, like I said, so...

01:16In terms of the election, how are you feeling ahead of it?

01:18What's the sort of thought for yourself and your family?

01:20I just feel that they're my two parties.

01:24There's nothing to choose between them.

01:25They're exactly the same.

01:27I don't want to vote for either one of them, to be honest.

01:30But, I mean, are you going to vote on Thursday?

01:32Yes.

01:33I won't ask you who if you don't want to say.

01:34Yeah, I'm going to vote, yeah.

01:36For you, what are the biggest issues that you're facing that you'd like to see fixed

01:41by a new election?

01:44It's just sort of cost of living and things, you know, and sort of just crime round here.

01:51I mean, it's an absolute nightmare.

01:53I mean, West Brompton Centre, when I was a kid, was a lovely place to go and have a drink.

01:58All the pubs were up there, everyone knew each other.

02:01No, you don't go up there.

02:03After 40 years of the Conservatives being in charge, do you think that a change from

02:07them to Labour, for example, would make any difference?

02:10No.

02:11How so?

02:12Just because they're exactly the same, aren't they?

02:16You know, they're just exactly the same, spreading different policies that they'll

02:22never do when they come into power.

02:25And Keir Starmer has got absolutely no charisma.

02:30He's just someone I've never wanted to vote for.

02:34Rishi Sunak I don't want to vote for, because they've had enough time and they've done

02:38absolutely nothing.

02:40So, they're just very much the same, aren't they?

02:44And just haven't done anything for the country, for the past, either party, 20 years, I would say.

02:55So, what's your thoughts on politics at the moment?

02:57How do you think the country is at the moment in terms of politics?

03:00Well, I think it's down, down on its knees, to be fair, with all this illegal immigration.

03:07People coming in with no identification.

03:10We don't know who they are.

03:12And they're getting benefits straight away.

03:15Is that the biggest issue that's affecting you at the moment?

03:18Do you think it's the livings of the ones as well?

03:21No.

03:22The cost of living, to personally.

03:25But it's the immigration.

03:28And in terms of Thursday, are you voting, first of all?

03:32Yes.

03:33Would you be prepared to say who you're voting for?

03:35Yes.

03:36Fair enough.

03:37Who are you voting for?

03:38Reform.

03:39OK.

03:40Nojah Farage, basically.

03:42He tells the truth.

03:43You know, nobody else seems to, you know, they never answer any questions.

03:48He comes out and he tells everything the way it is.

03:52OK.

03:53And do you think that a change of government on Friday would make a difference to the country?

03:58Depends who it is.

04:00I mean, if reform was to get in, I don't think they will.

04:04I think Labour will get in, myself, but I don't think it will change.

04:09How so?

04:10Well, they're the same, aren't they?

04:13Labour, Conservative, the main two parties have been the same ever since I've been alive, anyway.
