00:00Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin says he did not know that former Economic Affairs

00:08Minister Mustafa Muhammad had left the party after retiring from politics.

00:12Muhyiddin, the Perikatan Nasional chairman, said he respected the decision by the former

00:17Jali MP but stated his belief that Mustafa, known as Topa, was still a popular figure

00:23among voters.

00:25Muhyiddin seemed to hold out hope that Mustafa would help PN's campaigns in future by-elections,

00:30saying the former UMNO man could still work with Bersatu.

00:34He also believed that Mustafa did not plan on joining any other party but simply left

00:38Bersatu to make a full exit from politics.

00:41Yesterday, FMT reported Kelantan Bersatu as saying it was prepared to field Mustafa and

00:47make way for former UMNO Secretary General Anwar Musa in anticipation of possible by-elections

00:53for the Guam, Musang, and Jali parliamentary seats.

00:56However, Mustafa ruled this out, saying he had retired from politics and was no longer

01:01a member of Bersatu since September 30 last year.

01:04Separately, Muhyiddin said a Bersatu candidate will represent PN in the August 17 by-election

01:10for the Nanggiri state seat in Kelantan.
