00:00There were some arrests and earlier this week some other arrests were announced by Malaysia.

00:08The attack on the police station on 17 May, the other arrests show the need to be very

00:15alert both in Malaysia and Singapore.

00:17The Malaysian authorities have also arrested the attacker's family and they have arrested

00:22at least 15 other pro-ISIS suspects in May and June this year.

00:28The ultimate aim of the terrorists was to topple the Malaysian government.

00:32The Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has said that there were threats of

00:39attacks against His Majesty the Agong, the Malaysian Prime Minister and senior members

00:44of the Malaysian police force.

00:47ISIS' violent ideology continues to resonate in this region and is fuelled by a virtual

00:52network of supporters.

00:55These narratives have radicalised many individuals including here in Singapore and as long as

01:01these ideologies persist it will continue to inspire attacks.

01:07Our security is closely linked to Malaysia's security and due to proximity what happens

01:14in Malaysia will have an impact on our security landscape.

01:18This was our past experience with J-I. J-I members had met in Malaysia after we conducted

01:23the first wave of arrests in Singapore in December 2001.

01:27They wanted to plan retaliatory attacks against Singapore and we remain a very important target

01:32for terrorists.

01:34Malaysian Special Branch's actions, MSB's actions against the terrorist suspects helps

01:40significantly to mitigate the threat to Singapore and the region.
