00:30I'm sure there will be certain surprises at the end of the show, but I'm sure you'll
01:00know the team well. It just goes both ways. They know us, we know them. Trying to win
01:09the series, that's what we're all in it for, right? We beat them the last two years.
01:15Like I said, this series is going to write its own story, so we've got to make sure
01:20that we're ready and be mentally prepared. I don't know, three, four games, how many
01:24games has he played? He's fantastic in all of them. I don't know if he's going to play
01:29tomorrow or not, but either way, I'm sure he's going to get some looks down the stretch
01:36here.
01:37Obviously, fans, especially in the playoffs, are big. As we all know, they've been amazing
02:00for us the last couple of years here in the playoffs. Just looking to continue that, finding
02:05that game again, and then just one-upping their intensity. We know this is going to
02:12be a tighter game, tighter chicken game, so we'll make sure we're ready for it. Away from
02:17the puck, with the puck, in between whistles. We're very nice to have him on our side. We
02:30have to be better, so tonight's a good chance to get back to defending the right way and
02:37doing it right. I do, at least, but it was nice to stay away from the rink for a day
02:44and just have a day, and obviously a travel day. We'll be ready to go tonight, make the
02:51right decisions and improve little areas of the game and try to stay unpredictable
03:00in a way.
03:21They've got lots of good players, too, so they're going to make some plays every once
03:36in a while. After we gave up one, we got back to our game. Solid effort. Those are those
03:44momentum shifts that everyone talks about all the time, right? Those are big, especially
03:50in away buildings, in the playoffs. So, yeah, it was a big goal by Kaner. Very happy for
03:56him to get a goal and an assist, but there's lots of things that he brings that are very,
04:03very valuable for our group. Nothing wrong with the way that game went. Obviously, we
04:09got to get on our toes a little bit more and attack a little bit more again and present
04:15them a little bit more of a challenge in terms of defending. It's two big teams going
04:24at it, so we've got lots of guys that enjoy that part of the game and handle it really
04:30well. It was nice to have that, of course. It creates a lot of trust and security in
04:39everyone throughout the lineup.

05:05You know, hats off to that group over there. We've battled with them a lot over the last
05:09couple of years here. It's a great team over there, but so are we. I thought throughout
05:16the entire lineup it was a great job. If you want to win the Stanley Cup, you've got to
05:19win every round, right? I thought we did a good job this series, sticking to our game
05:25plan. Let's move on. It's my goal to be a big-time player. For the most part, I think
05:31I've done that in my career. Hopefully, I can keep it going a little bit.

05:39The Oilers victorious 4-3, and they finish off the Kings in five games.
05:44As a whole, it's done a really, really good job of defending and doing it the right way.
05:49Obviously, we're going to score enough to keep the puck out of our net and play the
05:57game. That being said, obviously, we did a really good job of getting our minds ready
06:03for that and just mentally being ready for the challenge. The receiving end felt a little
06:09more drastic than the other way around, but at the end of the day, you work and create
06:15your own bounces. I truly believe that. There's some really unlucky bounces.
06:22This time of year, the rest is good, but I think we're all excited to play a football
06:29I've been on the ice a couple of days now, so I'm just looking forward to getting there.
06:34The different systems, they played a good series against Nashville. Low scoring, so
06:42we know they're going to defend well, and so are we, so it should be a good series.
06:46I don't know how much more we need to talk about this. We're going into round two of
06:50the Stanley Cup playoffs. We don't care what happens in the regular season, and I bet you
06:54they don't either, as much as you think. We're a different team now. Like I said,
07:00it's going to be a tight checking. Two really good teams going at it, and the team that
07:07plays better hockey at the end will win.
07:11I'm feeling a little better today. Just see how I feel tonight. Just leave it at that.
07:17Obviously, it would take a lot, but like I said, we'll see.
07:22Our group has always been really good with adversity. We've always been good at responding
07:28to poor efforts or maybe a game that hasn't gone our way, so obviously looking to the
07:34end tonight.
07:52Yeah, obviously smart about it, but for the most part, it felt good.
07:57They're obviously a really good defending team. We know that. They keep it limited,
08:02but I thought we did a good job.
08:04Yeah, they're massive. It's a five-guy line with those two out there, right? They
08:13control the game. They control the play from back there, so just two really, really smart
08:20hockey players that understand what they need to do. Yeah, it's fun being with them.

08:46My issue resulted in a win, but maybe it's the way hockey works.

09:03right now or we're not doing a good enough job of being hard in front.

09:37Remember, we are great players, and we're playing all the way.
09:41We have a chance to win, and every time he's in there, it seems like he's standing on his
09:47head, so I'm super proud of him. Not an easy thing to do to really, really hard, so yeah,
09:55very, very happy with him.

09:59Yeah, great player. He's been amazing for us, obviously, all year, especially in big
10:07moments, so it's good. I think we get another year, I think we have another step. Maybe
10:15in terms of offense, I think there's another year, there's another step for us, and obviously
10:21we find that just on our heels too much last game, and just let them pressure us too much,
10:31and we thought they were the better team last night.
10:37That's what we get paid to do, to step up in big moments, and we'll look to do that
10:42again tomorrow.
10:44It's probably somewhere in between. Rest is always good this time of year, so we'll take
10:51the day here and get ready for tomorrow night.
10:54We're going to push at some point. They're a really good hockey team over there, so for
10:59the most part, I thought we played really well. Would we like to keep it a little less
11:04stressful? Yes, probably.
11:07You don't see it in the game, but we certainly recognize it, and we appreciate it, and we
11:12need everybody. It's a cliche, and everybody knows that. You mature, and you are in these
11:20situations, and you learn from those situations, and obviously we're looking to give it another
11:26shot, and be more successful than last time.
11:30He understands the game really well, and knows what he needs to do to be successful, and
11:37on the other side, not hurt our team. He's obviously a mascot.
11:43We've done a good job so far, but they've got guys that want to win it really badly.
11:49I can tell you that we've got lots of guys that want to win it really badly too.
11:54Just these moments of adversity, and these moments of, we've got to find a way to battle
11:59through it, and get out on top. That's just taught us a lot, and we're ready for it.

12:18I don't know, it's just the grip tape, when it gets fluffy or whatever, I don't like that.
12:23I'm a little OCD when it comes to that, so I just like it very clean. Denying lines,
12:29and get them to go east-west. I thought our D were really big in that, and then obviously
12:36we scored a couple of goals, five on five, which were big. Just a different style a little
12:42bit maybe, but obviously in their own way, very hard to play against.
12:49Just let them look for tonight to keep it going.
12:52Absolutely, if you don't know, dwelling on things in the playoffs is not the way to go,
12:58so we get a great chance to tie up the series tomorrow at home, and that's the way we're
13:05looking at it, creating momentum for a group, and I think we have done a very good job of
13:11that in the last three games in the series. Obviously, look at some things, tweak a couple
13:19things, and step up when we need to. Obviously, that's a big part of our team, and we've lost
13:28that a little bit lately, but it's nothing that I'm too too concerned with.
13:50Stayed above them, made the right decisions at the lines. I don't know, what did we give
13:56up? Maybe one look on the power play in the slot. So, very mature, very well done. Maybe
14:02the second one, but found our legs, got going a little bit, started to play our game, and
14:09stayed fresh, rolled lines. Obviously, we're a tough team to handle when we play that way.
14:15They're controlling the pace of the power play almost sometimes, and that's really really
14:20hard to do for kills, and obviously, all the guys that are out there are doing a great
14:26job. Yeah, feel good, ready to go. I wasn't looking for you. Yeah, I know, I don't know,
14:33not sure what to say. There's fatigue for sure, but at the end of the day, when the
14:39puck drops at night, your adrenaline kicks in, and you just keep pushing through it,
14:45and probably speaking for everyone, that you just continue to kind of plug away at it.
14:50Yeah, for sure, hockey IQ, understanding of situations, understanding of what he needs
14:57to do in the right moments, but I think at the end of the day, it really comes down to
15:01hockey IQ. Sometimes you gotta weather the storm a little bit, and I thought we did a
15:06really good job for 60 minutes. Didn't give up overly much in the third, and yeah, just
15:14all around a really good game by us. We've done a really good job of that, especially
15:21lately, but the whole playoff run, I thought we've done a great job so far, so obviously
15:26I'm just looking to continue that. He's not much in his own zone because he has the puck
15:31all night, it seems like, right, so yeah, he's just elevated his game to another level,
15:36and just no stress in his game. I battled some adversity, but really proud of the guys,
15:43you know, the playoffs and regular season, so obviously gonna enjoy this tonight, but
15:48getting ready for the Stanley Cup Finals. Like I said, can't stress it enough, just
15:52really proud of the guys. It wasn't an easy beginning to the year, but we all dug in and
15:58obviously pulled ourselves out, especially early on, but you know, we found ourselves
16:04and obviously adversity, there's a lot to take from sometimes, and you know, battled
16:08all year to get ourselves in a great situation, and just continue to stick with it in battle,
16:14and yeah, just super proud of the guys. Yeah, it's massive. I think our kill is what won
16:19us the series at the end of the day. They did a fantastic job. I don't think they gave
16:24up one, so it's a big, big reason of why we win, and yeah, that's all depth.
16:31You know, obviously to be able to do it at home, and for this city, and for these fans,
16:37and for ourselves as well, is, you know, it's great. It's a great feeling, of course.
16:44That being said, of course, you know, we got bigger dreams and bigger goals right now.
16:51I mean, yeah, there's one player in the world that can make plays like that, and things
16:56like that happen. Yeah, I mean, I don't know what to say. Like, he knows what I think of
17:03him. I think everybody does, so I'll just leave it at that. It's just, there's one player
17:09in the world that can make things like that happen.
17:11Yeah, you prepare for it, you prepare for their team and their strength, and at the
17:18end of the day, I think both teams are just going to try and play their game, and hope
17:21their will, I mean, not necessarily. The game is going to be played a little bit different,
17:28the style is going to be a little different, but for me personally, it doesn't change much.
17:33We got so many great players, we got so much depth in this group that at the end of the
17:37day, you know, sometimes it's just a different look, right? So, very comfortable with whoever
17:44is going to end up there.
17:45You know, that's not very common, but it's a long time coming for all of us, I think,
17:52and I can speak for myself, just excited to be here and get it going.
17:57Playing the game of hockey, which is all that matters, and yeah, it's obviously probably
18:05the biggest stage you can play on in all of hockey, so it'll be exciting and we're looking
18:10forward to it.
18:11The support means the world to me, and you know, if I can in any way, you know, help
18:18the game of hockey grow back home, you know, hopefully I'm doing that.
18:23You know, those things happen sometimes, but I think if we can do more of the same, more
18:29often than not, you know, I think we're giving ourselves a really good chance to win hockey
18:36in some big time states, and knowing that is important, but obviously, like you said,
18:43not grip your sticks too tight, and continue to play loose and just continue to play our
18:48game.
18:49Everybody's playing through things, he's obviously, you know, dealing with some things, and he
18:55wants to be out there, he wants to help our group, and he's giving it, you know, everything
19:00he's got.
19:01I think maybe simplifying a little bit as well, yeah, I think, you know, we've had these
19:07stretches before in the past, and we've always bounced back, so I'm confident that our group
19:12will find our game early and just, yeah, just be better, really, than last night, so I'm
19:21excited to be back at home in front of our fans.
19:24Really, everyone in the playoffs, everyone in the league, what everyone plays through,
19:28you know, I've been there, unfortunately, and it's really hard, but, you know, things
19:35you do for the love of the game.
19:37Yeah, of course, you're trying to carry that over, but, you know, it's a steep hill right
19:42now, obviously, but no choice but to take it one game at a time.
19:46We could be up 2-1 right now, but that's not the case, and that's not how this league or
19:52this sport works, unfortunately, so, yeah, just got to find a way to dig ourselves up.
19:58Pride myself on, you know, being good in the playoffs and playing well, and just can't
20:05seem to find, you know, get anything going, so, yeah, obviously, I have to look in the
20:11mirror and try to be better.
20:13We've always come through, you know, even with teams playing us tight, so obviously
20:18it feels good to put a couple goals on the board, but, yeah, just have to make sure we
20:24stay.
20:25Obviously have a tough job back there, you know, we played tight gap and then breaking
20:29the puck out, but they're doing a great job getting us going up the ice, and I thought
20:35we did a better job of handling that tonight.
20:38Not the way the game works sometimes, and just, you know, proud the way that we always
20:43stick with it and continue to work at it and stay work-based, and, yeah, hopefully
20:50we can build off that a little bit.
20:52Pick the positives out of that and try to apply that again into our game plan, but certainly
20:58know that they're going to be a little bit better, and, you know, we can be better in
21:03certain areas as well.
21:04Maybe just bear down a little bit better on our chances, and obviously found a groove
21:09a little bit.
21:10Yeah, just looking to continue that into game five.
21:14I think they're going to be better, I think they're going to tighten up a little bit defensively
21:17for sure, just like any team would after giving up that many goals, but still, like I said,
21:24I think we've got another year to go as well.
21:26You know, haven't found my game, you know, haven't found my legs, and, yeah, just not
21:33the standard that I hold myself to, obviously, but, yeah, excited to come into the series
21:39tonight.
21:40In terms of overall game, I definitely think that, you know, they're going to push tonight,
21:44and we have to make sure that we push harder and obviously come out desperate and, you
21:50know, bring our best game.
21:52Extremely high standards, and if I don't get to that, obviously, you know, I'm not happy
21:59with it, so, like I said, I'm very excited to come into it tonight.
22:03Yeah, he just explodes out of there, and he's gone, I mean, obviously, he's calm, cool,
22:10and collective, and just knows where to go, really smart hockey player.
22:13You know, outscore every team, he's scoring every single night, so you need depth, you
22:20need, you know, other guys to step up, and, you know, we've had that throughout the run.
22:26He has the right touch, he knows what he's doing, and he seems to make the right decisions
22:31a lot more often than not, and, yeah, that was obviously a big one.
22:37Not so much our power play or our offensive guys, it's our depth and our penalty kill
22:42that wins us hockey games, but, certainly, it's a great feeling to have the best player
22:49in the world on your side.
22:51There's such a movie playing in your head, playing on the street or wherever you are,
22:57and, you know, it's special to be in that situation right now and get a chance to be
23:02a part of that.
23:03To put into words how much character there is in this group, and I'm just really, really,
23:09really proud of, you know, we stuck with it all year.
23:14Yep, that'll go all the way to the end.
23:17You know, single-handedly turned our franchise around pretty much, so I just love sharing
23:26the ice with them, and it's just really, really special for us.
23:30Learning lessons, right?
23:32We've done that over the last couple of years very well and implemented those lessons, but
23:39it's tough to drag a lesson out of this one when you're really one shot or two shots away
23:45from, you know, accomplishing everything.
23:49Yeah, it creates a moment for ourselves, so, obviously, we're playing to win, so there's
23:58one team that's happy right now, but, again, we're very proud of, you know, what we've
24:06been through this year and how we, yeah, I guess had a whole country, you know, rooting
24:12for us.
24:13You know, it's going to take a little bit of time to figure out what I want, what, you
24:20know, what the Oilers want, what everyone wants, and then, yeah, go from there.
