00:00At the moment we are able to do 71 loads of washing in Canberra and this money will mean
00:09that we can just increase our impact, we can put more shifts on, we can deliver more services
00:14to Canberrans in need.
00:15At the moment people are cold, people need their blankets washed, our shifts are very
00:21busy because we're providing basic services and dignity to people who are sleeping rough
00:26or people who can't afford to own their own washing machine or run their own washing machines
00:31and dryers.
00:32So this will make a really big impact on the services we can deliver.
00:36Have that dignity of no matter what hardship they're going through, there's some clean
00:40clothes, their clothes can be returned to them just dry and warm and you can see the
00:47difference in people's faces that that small act just makes for their lives.
00:53Yerrabee Yerwang Child and Family Aboriginal Corporation is a community controlled organisation
01:01on the north side of Canberra.
01:03We have 75% of our board are Ngunnawal people.
01:07We have sort of been a beneficiary of Snow Foundation Hands Across Canberra since the
01:14COVID time and I don't think we'd be here today without the little supports that we
01:21got from different pockets including Hands Across Canberra and the Snow Foundation.
01:28So we're here today and this is all about our youth and giving them an opportunity to
01:35get together to celebrate their culture through activities, dance, song and also to get them
01:43together to do a Desert Peer Media production.
01:48They haven't been to the ACT at this point in time so we're really thrilled about supporting our youth.
