Travel expert, Rob Staines, on the rise of travel scams

While experts are advising travel providers to minimise the risk to their customers as best they can, we're also being asked to brush up on what to look out for to help us avoid scams.

00:0074% of people surveyed actually said their holiday was the highlight of their years.

00:08Holiday scams are massive at the moment. They really are a really big problem, especially

00:13during the cost of living crisis and also throughout the pandemic. And over 50% of those

00:19surveyed said that they felt particularly vulnerable to holiday scams at the moment.

00:24There's a lot of people out there who were thinking, right, this is the first year that

00:28I maybe might not be able to afford to go on holiday, or, you know, I'm really cutting

00:32back on other areas of my life to be able to scrape by and get myself, you know, away

00:37because we deserve our breaks and our holidays, don't we? They're really, really important.

00:41But there's also a lot of people that are sort of overly cautious and maybe not making

00:46those bookings. So, you know, it's really important that we know what the pitfalls are,

00:51know some of the signs to look out for, and just make sure we do that research and double

00:55check everything and sort of be scam aware, really.
