00:00Hi, Chris Byrne here, Yorkshire Post Business and Features Editor.
00:07There's been a trading update from Morrisons today, a very positive trading update, noting
00:12that sales have gone up 4.1% in the last quarter, the second quarter of the year for them, which
00:18is January to April basically.
00:21There's also a significant update from them about their plans for more convenience stores
00:26across the country.
00:28Morrisons Daily, which is their convenience store brand, was introduced in 2015 and they've
00:32been gradually expanding since then, taking over the McColl's range of shops and buying
00:37some new shops in the Channel Islands in recent months too.
00:42That's meant they're now up to 1,600 convenience stores across the country.
00:46The company has now announced they want to get to 2,000 by 2025, so 400-ish more shops
00:53on the way on local high streets around the country.
00:57It all ties in with the 125th anniversary of Morrisons, which they're celebrating across
01:02the course of this year.
