00:25missing in Gaza amid Israel's genocidal war.
00:31And in Russia, government authorities described the shelling of Sevastopol and Dagestan as
00:36barbaric, accusing Washington of killing Russian children.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
00:52On Monday, the Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello,
00:57condemned that sectors of the extreme right are seeking the intervention of the U.S. as
01:01a way to recover the national economy.
01:04During the shake-up of the 1-10-7 machinery ahead of the presidential elections of July
01:0828, Cabello assured that Venezuelans' internal issues must be solved only by the Venezuelan
01:14people.
01:15At the same time, Diosdado Cabello warned that the extreme right wing only pretends
01:19to control the country for its own interest and not for the benefit of the people.
01:23Likewise, Diosdado Cabello assured that the national government has the best electoral
01:27structure to warranty a revolutionary victory on July 28.
01:35On Monday, in Venezuela, delegates of the Government of Colombia and the Second Marquetalia,
01:40one of the largest groups of dissidents of the revolutionary armed force of Colombia,
01:44FARC, began a new round of peace talks.
01:46In this context, both delegations met in order to promote changes and democratic reforms,
01:51focus on peace of the people and the territories to begin debates around the members of the
01:56group and the overall peace policy promoted by the Colombian government.
02:00In this regard, as part of President Gustavo Petro's policy, his administration is engaged
02:05in dialogues with the National Liberation Army and the self-proclaimed Central Majority
02:09of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
02:12During his intervention in the event, the Ambassador of Venezuela in Colombia reiterated
02:17their commitment to peace.
02:23Venezuela, as host of this first round of negotiations, takes this opportunity to reiterate
02:31its commitment to continue working vigorously for the reconciliation of our beloved Colombia
02:37and to make our Latin America and the Caribbean a territory of peace, union and prosperity.
02:44Caracas, June 24th, 2024.
02:51The chief of the Colombian government delegation, Armando Novoa, said that the conflicts with
02:56the armed groups worsened due to the improper implementation of peace agreements by previous governments.
03:02None of these conflicts arose from the installation of current President Petro's government,
03:11but were inherited from the precarious and regrettable circumstances in which the country
03:18was left, among other reasons, due to an improper implementation of the 2016 peace agreement.
03:26For his part, the former member of the FARC, Ivan Marquez, affirmed that the dissident group
03:322nd Marquetalia has all the disposition to contribute to the achievement of peace in Colombia.
03:38Today we want to state that the 2nd Marquetalia Bolivarian Army under my command and its collective
03:45leadership has all the disposition to contribute to the common achievement of peace for Colombia,
03:52which we inscribe within the more general purposes of political, economic, social, cultural
03:59and environmental change demanded by the historical moment our country is going through.
04:07In Colombia, authorities reported that three soldiers resulted injured following an attack with explosives.

04:44against a group of 20 military personnel for attempted homicide in relation to the repression

04:55According to the prosecutor's office, the high number of seriously wounded by bullet impacts
05:00confirms that there was a pattern in the behavior of the soldiers in charge of containing the demonstrators,
05:06which contradicts the version of the implicated soldiers who maintained that they only fired into the air
05:12and not against the demonstrators.
05:14In this sense, the prosecutor's office formalized the preparatory investigation against at least

07:09with the United States as the main financial endorser.
07:12But its implementation has been delayed due to domestic opposition in Kenya.
07:16In turn, human rights groups have accused the Kenyan police of using excessive force
07:21and carrying out unlawful killings and reminded of the many human rights violations committed
07:27during the previous foreign missions in Haiti.
