I dodged fanzone madness to watch England v Denmark in a classic Manc boozer

Football fanzones serve a purpose. It’s a place for people to gather in huge groups, where the football is definitely on and they can celebrate with others.   Unfortunately, they can be loud, hectic, disorganised and you could end up with a pint of beer poured over your head. I have long been an advocate of the good old British boozer as the place to be for football. Conversation can flow as easily as the beers and you get a proper, organic communal experience.  With that in mind, I went to The Seven Oaks in Chinatown to watch England vs Denmark and was delighted by the experience.

00:00If you're wondering where the best place to watch the Euros is, let me introduce you to a little pub called The Seven Oaks.

00:07Hi everyone, it's Theo here from Manchester World, and if you take a right just past the entry point into Chinatown,

00:13you'll find yourself at a lovely little pub called The Seven Oaks.

00:17Now, the point of this series is, over the course of England's Euros campaign, I'm going to take you to a couple of different pubs across Manchester

00:23to showcase the Great British Boozer.

00:25So forget your fan zones, because this is where the action is.

00:28So I got in, grabbed myself a pint, sat down and got settled, ready for the match to begin.

00:58In off the post, there's no one there.

01:03Surprise.

01:12The result wasn't the one that England wanted, but it was quite a result for us.

01:15Two pints for a combined cost of £7.50, and a great atmosphere to watch the game.
